18's cost more but imo look better on our cars. 17's are cheaper and tires are cheaper. the profiles avaliable for 17's are low enough so you will still have good performance. And, to a sense bigger side wall is better for strait line. thats if you are spinning off the line and don't want much wheelhop. but, if you learn to drive and feather the clutch enough, you won't spin. So, IMO low profile tires on wide 18" light rims is the best. cheapest 18's that look decent are and are light are FNO1Rc's. they are avaliable in 9.5inch rims if i remember right.
